Our grape-growers

A precious resource, result from long-term partnerships

Nowadays San Silvestro can rely on many grape-growers and their important role. Paolo Sartirano, owner of the company together with his cousin Guido, explains "This company is base on our family tradition and can be described ad Piedmontese model. Actually, in Piedmont many wine cellars based their activity and their production on a strict grape selection, always looking for the best wine areas and tightly connecting with the local grape-growers throught long-term contracts that could last decades. San Silvestro embraces this philosophy, believing that excellence and transparency always make the difference".

The technical staff, enologists and agronomist, cooperate with the grape-growers all year long. Together, they schedule the works in the vineyards, the treatments, the correct timing according to weather trend, the soil condition and the expected quality. The partnership is based on a great trust, cultivated year by year through respect and consistency.

Some cooperations last since many yaers. Paolo Sartirano remembers when, as he was a child, used to visit grape-growers with his father  Giovanni and his uncle Pietro.

Here we introduce you some of the actual grape-growers we work with, full of proud.

Dogliani Piergiacomo

His nickname is "Bela Vigna" (a dialect expression that means "Nice vineyard"). Piergiacomo grows Barbera and Nebbiolo grapes. His vineyards are located in Barolo and La Morra.

Ferrero Marco e Renzo

Marco and his father Renzo are partners with San Silvestro since 10 years. Their vineyards are located in the area of Monteu Roero and they cultivate basically Arneis, but also Barbera and Nebbiolo.

Fenocchio Marisa

Ms. Marisa in the owner of a little company that carries her name. Her vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba are the birth place for the Nebbiolo grapes we use to produce our Barolo D.O.C.G. Patres.

Ceppa Giuseppe

Mr. Ceppa and his company Le Croci, grows his vineyards between Alba and Diano d'Alba. From there we get the grapes to produce our Barbera d'Alba D.O.C. and our Dolcetto d'Alba D.O.C.

Savigliano Luigi

Luigi's job is taking care of his vineyards. His Cascina Biavasca is located in Vergne, a little suburb of the village Narzole. Here is the place where we collect the grapes for our Langhe D.O.C. Nebbiolo, Barbera d'Alba D.O.C., Langhe D.O.C. Rosso and Dolcetto d'Alba D.O.C.

Badellino Bruno

Bruno Badellino with his wife live in Santa Vittoria d'Alba e bring to us the Arneis grapes that we vinificate to produce our Roero Arneis D.O.C.G.. They also cultivate nebbiolo grapes from which we produce some Nebbiolo d'Alba D.O.C.

Cavagnese Livio

Livio owns almost 4 hectares in the suburb Prabrassolo, in Monchiero village. He is the newest partner in San Silvestro. In 2015 we signed a long-term contract and we started the trenching to prepare the soil for the future vineyards. We planted some barbera and nebbiolo vines, that are now slowly grwing up. In three years we will start collect some fruits! So excited!

Baudana Paolo

Paolo, together with his girlfriend, owns "La Contrada di Sorano", in Serralunga d'Alba. A percentage of nebbiolo grapes we use to produce our Barolo D.O.C.G. come from their vineyards.

Sanino Antonina

Ms. Antonina works on her vineyards in Novello and bring us the grapes we use for our Barolo D.O.C.G. and Barbera d'Alba D.O.C.
